Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before joining the program: eligibility, registration, what to bring, and how projects are evaluated.
Who can participate?
- • Open to students in Grades 9–12 with interest in technology and problem-solving.
- • No prior hackathon experience required; enthusiasm and teamwork matter most.
How do we register?
- • Form a team of 3–5 students and register through your school ICT coordinator.
- • Provide a team name, member details, and a teacher point of contact.
What does the selection look for?
- • Curiosity about building with technology and willingness to learn.
- • Basic familiarity with HTML/CSS/JS helps but is not mandatory.
- • Teams that show clear roles and commitment to attend all sessions are prioritized.
What should we bring?
- • Laptops for each member (minimum two per team if sharing devices).
- • Chargers, extension cords, and any required adapters.
- • Stable internet access for development tasks.
Which tools will we use?
Tooling is introduced during the program; bring what you already use.
- • Code: VS Code or a preferred IDE with Git installed.
- • Backend/DB: Node.js, Firebase, MySQL, or MongoDB depending on your idea.
- • Frontend: React or Vue; pick one stack and keep it simple.
What support do mentors provide?
- • Each team is paired with a mentor for technical guidance and scope checks.
- • Mentors review progress, unblock issues, and help prepare the final pitch.
How are projects evaluated?
- • Problem clarity and impact of the proposed solution.
- • Technical execution, code quality, and usability of the prototype.
- • Team collaboration and a concise demo/pitch within the allotted time.
